PACIFIC Dunes is gaining momentum as one of the best courses in NSW and has been included on the prestigious Vardon event calendar this year.
Winner of the best public-access course in NSW last year, the two-year-old Medowie layout will host the inaugural Pacific Dunes Open on July 28.The tournament is open to any player off a handicap of 18 or less, and a handicap ballot system will be used once the maximum field is reached."The open will launch the club into the Vardon event calendar, the most prestigious event on the NSW amateur circuit," Pacific Dunes general manager Peter Davies said."The open will be a 36-hole event, with golfers playing off championship tees, and promises to be a challenging tournament that will keep even professional golfers on their toes."The Pacific Dunes Open will be the next Vardon event for Hunter Region golfers following the successful Cessnock Cup on the weekend.After the Pacific Dunes event, local amateur players will get the chance to showcase their skills at the Horizons Amateur on August 12 at Horizons Golf Club.There is a junior Vardon event scheduled for Muswellbrook on August 18, before the Lake Macquarie junior Vardon tournament at the Waratah club on September 9.To register for the Pacific Dunes Open visit www.pacificdunes.com.au or phone the club on 4916 0500.
